Aasiri's approach to painting has been influenced by her asian heritage from Sri lanka as well as other asian countries she has lived in. The different types of art and architecture in each culture, that at times create connections between countries yand times contrasts to set its identity is reflected in her artwork. She enjoys creating an interplay between recognisable and abstract forms. The familiar and foreign play.
She is fascinated with the relationship between architectural symbols and the variety of meanings they contain. These narratives are used as an iteration means with the viewer. Her artworks are a way to share familiar and unfamiliar feelings, decoded through a collage of paint layers, motifs, found objects & text in her native language.
